Makassar, July 27, 2025 – The Community Service Department (Pengmas) of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (BEM FK) at Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar successfully held the “SERASI (Sehari Bersama Anak Disabilitas)” event today. This excellent collaboration with dr. Rima January Putri Ridwan Gani, Sp.GK and the Nutrition Department of FKIK Unismuh aimed to raise public awareness about children with disabilities and provide appropriate nutrition education.

The event featured various engaging and educational activities, including simple health check-ups, interactive nutrition education sessions, and fun playing activities with children with disabilities. Participants enthusiastically followed each segment, demonstrating a spirit of togetherness and inclusion.

Adi Fahja Said, Chairman of BEM FK-Unismuh Makassar, in his opening remarks, expressed high appreciation for the participation of all involved parties. “This ‘SERASI’ event is a concrete manifestation of our commitment as students to contribute positively to society, especially for our brothers and sisters with disabilities. We hope this activity is not just a fleeting moment but also inspires more parties to care for and support them,”

In line with this, dr. Asdar, Sp.B, as the Vice Dean III of FKIK Unismuh Makassar, also showed his support. “We highly welcome initiatives like this. Besides fostering empathy and social awareness among students, this activity also applies the knowledge they have gained, especially in nutrition, to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities. We hope such activities can continue and provide broader benefits,”

dr. Rima January Putri Ridwan Gani, Sp.GK, who was actively involved in the event, emphasized the importance of proper nutrition education for children with disabilities. “Adequate nutritional intake is crucial for the optimal growth and development of every child, including children with disabilities. Through this educational session, we hope parents and caregivers gain a better understanding of how to provide the best nutrition for their children,”

The “SERASI (Sehari Bersama Anak Disabilitas)” event is expected to be a stepping stone towards creating a more inclusive and friendly environment for children with disabilities in Makassar.
