FK Unismuh Makassar Team Secures Third Place at the National Anatomy Competition AORTA 2026Tim FK Unismuh Makassar Sabet Juara 3 pada Ajang Anatomi Nasional AORTA 2026
Students of the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (UNISMUH) once again achieved a notable accomplishment at the An Adventure Towards the Human Body (AORTA) 2026 competition, which was held on 6–8 February 2026 in Makassar. In this national-level anatomy competition, the FK UNISMUH team successfully secured Third Place after passing through a series of highly competitive and challenging selection stages.
The competition was attended by 88 participants from 36 universities across Indonesia. The level of competition was intense from the preliminary stages through to the final round, as each institution sent its best representatives to compete.
The semifinal round was held centrally at the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, which served as the host institution. At this stage, all qualifying teams were tested through a series of clinical anatomy–based questions and challenges to determine which participants would advance to the final round.
In the final round, the competition format became more complex and collaborative. Challenge stations were distributed across four medical faculties in Makassar: the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, the Faculty of Medicine, Muslim University of Indonesia, and the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Alauddin Makassar. The starting line and pit stop remained centralized at the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, while each campus functioned as a challenge station with distinct characteristics and tasks.
The FK UNISMUH Makassar delegation consisted of Andi Rifky Dwi Wanandi (Rifky) as team leader and Muhammad Amrullah (Ulla). They were required to move sequentially from one station to another. Each station presented interactive challenges based on clinical anatomy; successfully completing one stage provided clues leading to the next location. The final ranking was determined based on both the accuracy of answers and the speed in reaching the finish line.
The materials tested covered a wide range of systems, including the neuroendocrine system, gastrohepatoenterology, musculoskeletal system, urology–reproductive system, and cardiorespiratory system. The high level of difficulty required participants not only to understand theoretical concepts but also to integrate anatomical knowledge with clinical applications quickly and accurately.
As the team leader, Rifky stated that the differences in format between the semifinal and final rounds presented unique challenges.
“During the semifinal round, we focused more on accuracy and precision in answering questions at a single location. However, when the final round took place across four different campuses, the challenges increased—we had to manage time effectively, maintain stamina, and remain focused despite moving between locations,” he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of communication and role distribution within the team.
“With 88 participants from 36 universities, the pressure was certainly significant. There were moments when we fell behind, but we chose to remain calm and adjust our strategy at the next station. Our key was consistency until reaching the pit stop,” Rifky added.
The team’s preparation was carried out systematically through regular discussions, integrated practice sessions, and intensive material review prior to the final round. These efforts ultimately resulted in the team securing Third Place in this national-scale competition.
This achievement demonstrates that teamwork, mental resilience, and strong academic preparation can enable students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar to compete at the national level and bring pride to their institution on a broader stage.
Rifky and Ulla also expressed their gratitude for the support they received from various parties throughout the preparation and competition process. They extended special appreciation to the faculty leadership and particularly to the Head of the Department of Anatomy, dr. Samsani, for his support during the competition.
