FK Unismuh Medical Students Celebrate National Children’s Day with “Sharing Love, Weaving Hope” Social Event

Makassar, July 23, 2025 – In the spirit of National Children’s Day, students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (FK Unismuh), Class of 2023, organized a social event titled “Sharing Love, Weaving Hope” on Tuesday, July 23, 2025. Throughout the day, the students visited four orphanages in the Alauddin area as a gesture of care and concern for the children residing there.
This activity was carried out with the aim of bringing simple happiness to the children in orphanages while commemorating the significant occasion of National Children’s Day. Beyond providing aid in the form of basic necessities packages, stationery, and gift parcels, the students also created a joyful atmosphere through educational games, inspiring storytelling, art activities, and basic health check-ups.
“We want to make this Children’s Day a reminder that every child, no matter where they are, deserves attention and affection. We came not just to bring aid, but to be present and involved in their happiness,” stated Aditia Sawar, Chairman of FK Unismuh Class of 2023.
This activity reflects the humanitarian values taught within Muhammadiyah teachings, particularly the spirit of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding wrong). By directly engaging with the community, FK Unismuh students affirmed that their role extends beyond the classroom to building social awareness from an early age.
The Vice Dean of FK Unismuh, Dr. Asdar Tajuddin, Sp.B, expressed his appreciation and hopes. “Children are the future of the nation. What these students have done today demonstrates the character of future doctors who are not only professional but also possess a conscience and high level of care.”
Through visits to these four orphanages, FK Unismuh students hope to instill the value that genuine presence and attention can become a new hope for children growing up with limitations. They believe that sharing is not about the size of the donation, but about how deeply one is present for others
