Makassar, July 29, 2025 — As part of the Annual Work Meeting (Raker) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Prof. Dr. A. Husni Tanra, Ph.D., Sp.An, KIC, KMN, delivered an inspiring Refreshing Session titled “Teaching With Heart: Strategies for Engaging Students.” Held at Hotel Claro Makassar, the session served as a reflective moment that deeply resonated with the participants.

In his talk, Prof. Husni invited all lecturers and educators to revisit the true essence of teaching. He emphasized that teaching is not merely about transferring knowledge, but about shaping whole human beings — intellectually and morally. This idea was closely tied to the Japanese concept of Hitozukuri, which translates to “human development” or “the making of people.”

“In Japan, I learned that education is not just about making people smart, but about shaping individuals who are ethical, empathetic, and responsible. That’s what Hitozukuri is all about,” Prof. Husni shared, reflecting on his educational and training experiences in Japan.

According to him, the philosophy of Hitozukuri should be internalized in our education system, particularly within FKIK Unismuh Makassar, so that the learning process focuses not only on academic outcomes but also on the development of students’ character and integrity.

The session was met with enthusiasm and warm reception from the Raker participants. In addition to sharing humanistic and participatory teaching strategies, Prof. Husni also sparked a meaningful discussion about the challenges of teaching in the digital age.

This Refreshing Session is expected to strengthen the educators’ spirit in creating a learning environment that is not only intellectually engaging but also soulful — in line with the spirit of teaching with heart and the philosophy of Hitozukuri.


Makassar, 29 Juli 2025 — Dalam rangkaian kegiatan Rapat Kerja (Raker) Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Prof. dr. A. Husni Tanra, Ph.D., Sp.An, KIC, KMN membawakan sesi penyegaran bertajuk “Teaching With Heart: Strategies for Engaging Students”. Kegiatan ini berlangsung di Hotel Claro Makassar dan menjadi salah satu agenda reflektif yang sangat menginspirasi para peserta Raker.

Dalam sesi tersebut, Prof. Husni mengajak seluruh dosen dan tenaga pendidik untuk kembali merenungkan esensi mendidik. Ia menekankan bahwa mengajar bukan semata-mata soal mentransfer pengetahuan, melainkan membentuk manusia secara utuh — baik intelektual maupun karakternya. Gagasan ini ia hubungkan dengan konsep Hitozukuri, istilah dalam budaya Jepang yang berarti “pembentukan manusia”.

“Di Jepang, saya belajar bahwa pendidikan bukan hanya tentang membuat orang pintar, tapi bagaimana membentuk pribadi yang utuh — beretika, berempati, dan bertanggung jawab. Itulah yang disebut dengan Hitozukuri,” ungkap Prof. Husni, merujuk pada pengalamannya selama menempuh pendidikan dan pelatihan di Negeri Sakura.

Menurutnya, filosofi Hitozukuri perlu diinternalisasi dalam sistem pendidikan kita, khususnya di lingkungan FKIK Unismuh Makassar, agar proses pembelajaran tak hanya berorientasi pada hasil akademik, tetapi juga pada kualitas kepribadian mahasiswa.

Sesi ini mendapat sambutan hangat dan penuh antusias dari peserta Raker. Selain membagikan strategi mengajar yang humanis dan partisipatif, Prof. Husni juga memantik diskusi mendalam seputar tantangan pengajaran di era generasi digital.

Kegiatan Refreshing Session ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat semangat para pendidik FKIK dalam menciptakan ekosistem pembelajaran yang tidak hanya cerdas, tetapi juga berjiwa — selaras dengan semangat “teaching with heart” dan filosofi Hitozukuri.
