Rector of Unismuh Makassar: Appreciation for the Visitation of the Proposed Establishment of Dentistry and Professional Dental Education Programs by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Held at FKIK Unismuh Makassar
Makassar, July 16, 2025 – Today, Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar welcomed an official visitation from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes RI) as part of the proposal process for establishing a Bachelor of Dentistry Program and a Professional Dentist Program.
This visitation is part of the initial evaluation and verification stage to assess the institution’s readiness in terms of human resources, facilities and infrastructure, curriculum, and academic management systems. The presence of the visitation team from the Ministry of Health reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that the upcoming dentistry programs meet national quality standards.
In his remarks, the Rector of Unismuh Makassar expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of this visitation. He noted that this milestone is the result of hard work by the entire team and all parties involved, enabling Unismuh Makassar to soon offer new academic programs under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK). The Rector also warmly welcomed the visitation team from the Ministry of Health and expressed hope for constructive feedback and input to help refine and fulfill the national standards for opening the Dentistry and Professional Dentist Programs.
He further emphasized that the establishment of these programs is a tangible contribution by Unismuh toward improving access to and the quality of healthcare services, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. “We are ready to contribute by producing competent, professional, and ethically grounded dentists in accordance with Islamic values,” he stated. It is hoped that this visitation will expedite the approval process for the proposed programs, marking a strategic step in advancing dental education in South Sulawesi.
