FK Unismuh Makassar Students Hold Community Service in Takalar: “One Step for Health, One Sunnah for Faith”
Makassar – The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar once again held a community service event (Bakti Sosial/Baksos) themed “One Step for Health, One Sunnah for Faith” at SMPN 1 Mappakasunggu, Takalar Regency, on Sunday, June 1, 2025. This event is an annual agenda organized by the FK Unismuh Student Family Association (PIKOM), involving hundreds of medical students.
The event was attended by various local figures, including the Expert Staff of the Regent of Takalar representing the Regent, Muhammad Nurdin, M.Pd, Secretary of the Takalar Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Jamaluddin Daeng Sese, Takalar DPRD Member from the Democratic Party Faction, Ir. Husniah Rachman, Sanrobone Subdistrict Head, Principal of SMPN 1 Mappakasunggu, and hundreds of enthusiastic residents, especially those participating in the mass circumcision activity.
A total of 120 children registered for the mass circumcision, with 110 children present and undergoing the procedure. In addition to circumcision, the event also featured health education, free medical check-ups, and consultations by supervising doctors and medical students.
Dr. Nurmila, Sp.PD, M.Kes, one of the supervising physicians, expressed her gratitude to the Takalar Regency Government for supporting the students’ activities. She emphasized that this community service provides real benefits to the public through various free health services.

The Expert Staff of the Regent of Takalar, who officially opened the event, conveyed appreciation and gratitude to the Faculty of Medicine at Unismuh Makassar. He stated that collaboration between students and local government greatly helps the community, especially in delivering essential healthcare services.
“On behalf of the community, we are very thankful for the presence of these students. This is a genuine form of concern that has been warmly welcomed by our residents. I also urge the public to take care of their health, especially with the current unpredictable weather,” he said in his opening remarks.
Tria Rochma Julia Jamal, the event’s secretary, explained that a total of 232 medical students from FK Unismuh were involved as the organizing committee. She emphasized that the team had worked hard to ensure the smooth implementation of the activities, particularly the mass circumcision, which was the event’s main highlight.
Muhammad Rahul Rahma, Chairman of PIKOM FK Unismuh, also expressed his hopes that this event would strengthen the bond between students and the community and foster a spirit of service among medical students from an early stage. He hopes that such initiatives will continue and bring widespread positive impact.
