MAKASSAR – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, through its Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPS), organized a three-day scientific program consisting of the Webinar: PCR Across Disciplines: Clinical Diagnostics, Genotyping, Food Safety, and Biomarker Discovery followed by a Real-Time PCR Workshop, held from Thursday to Saturday, 25–27 June 2026, at FMHS Unismuh Makassar.

The program commenced with the webinar on Thursday, 25 June 2026, and continued with the Real-Time PCR Workshop on Friday–Saturday, 26–27 June 2026. The event was designed to enhance the competencies of academics, researchers, laboratory professionals, students, and healthcare practitioners in the application of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology across diverse fields, including clinical diagnostics, genotyping, food safety, and biomarker discovery.

The opening webinar featured welcoming remarks by the Dean of FMHS Unismuh Makassar, Prof. Dr. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc., Sp.GK(K). In her address, she emphasized that the rapid advancement of molecular biology technologies requires continuous capacity building to enable researchers and healthcare professionals to keep pace with scientific developments and the growing demand for evidence-based healthcare.

The webinar brought together distinguished speakers who explored the applications of PCR from multiple scientific perspectives. Topics included translational research from laboratory findings to clinical implementation, the role of PCR in improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes, PCR-based genotyping, the implementation of Real-Time PCR in applied laboratory testing, and the integration of PCR technology with Western blotting for biomarker discovery research.

The second and third days, Friday–Saturday, 26–27 June 2026, were dedicated to the Real-Time PCR Workshop, which focused on strengthening participants’ practical laboratory competencies. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. rer. nat. Sony Adhi Susanto, who delivered two specialized sessions: Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) identification using Real-Time PCR-based genotyping for cancer detection, and the detection of soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) as a biomarker for preeclampsia risk in pregnant women using the ELISA method.

Through these hands-on sessions, participants gained not only a solid theoretical understanding but also practical experience in applying molecular diagnostic technologies for both research and clinical laboratory practice.

In addition to the scientific presentations, the program featured interactive discussion sessions, providing participants with opportunities to engage directly with the speakers and exchange insights on current challenges and emerging developments in PCR applications across multiple disciplines.

Webinar dan Workshop Real Time PCR FKIK Unismuh Makassar Bahas Inovasi Diagnostik Molekuler

MAKASSAR – Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar melalui Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPS) menyelenggarakan rangkaian kegiatan Webinar PCR Across Disciplines: Clinical Diagnostic, Genotyping, Food Safety and Biomarker Discovery yang dilanjutkan dengan Workshop Real Time PCR selama tiga hari, Kamis–Sabtu, 25–27 Juni 2026, di FKIK Unismuh Makassar.

Kegiatan diawali dengan webinar pada Kamis, 25 Juni 2026, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan Workshop Real Time PCR pada Jumat–Sabtu, 26–27 Juni 2026. Rangkaian kegiatan ini diselenggarakan sebagai upaya meningkatkan kompetensi akademisi, peneliti, tenaga laboratorium, mahasiswa, dan praktisi kesehatan dalam pemanfaatan teknologi Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) untuk berbagai bidang, mulai dari diagnostik klinis, genotiping, keamanan pangan, hingga penemuan biomarker.

Webinar pada hari pertama dibuka dengan sambutan oleh Dekan FKIK Unismuh Makassar, Prof. Dr. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc., Sp.GK(K). Dalam sambutannya, ia menegaskan bahwa perkembangan teknologi biologi molekuler menuntut peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia agar mampu mengikuti perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan kebutuhan pelayanan kesehatan berbasis bukti.

Materi webinar menghadirkan sejumlah narasumber yang membahas implementasi PCR dari berbagai perspektif. Topik yang disampaikan meliputi potensi riset translasi dari laboratorium ke implementasi, penerapan PCR dalam praktik klinis untuk mempercepat diagnosis dan meningkatkan luaran pasien, genotiping berbasis PCR, implementasi metode Real Time PCR dalam pengujian laboratorium, hingga integrasi teknologi PCR dan Western Blotting untuk penelitian biomarker.

Memasuki hari kedua dan ketiga, Jumat–Sabtu, 26–27 Juni 2026, kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan Workshop Real Time PCR yang berfokus pada peningkatan keterampilan praktis peserta. Workshop dipandu oleh Dr. rer.nat. Sony Adhi Susanto dengan dua materi utama, yaitu identifikasi Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) menggunakan metode genotyping berbasis Real Time PCR dalam identifikasi kanker serta deteksi soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase receptor (sFLT) sebagai penanda risiko preeklamsia pada ibu hamil menggunakan metode ELISA.

Melalui sesi workshop, peserta tidak hanya memperoleh pemahaman konseptual, tetapi juga mendapatkan pengalaman pembelajaran yang lebih aplikatif mengenai penggunaan teknologi diagnostik molekuler dalam penelitian maupun pelayanan laboratorium kesehatan. Selain penyampaian materi, rangkaian kegiatan juga menghadirkan sesi diskusi interaktif sehingga peserta dapat berdialog langsung dengan para narasumber mengenai tantangan dan perkembangan terbaru dalam pemanfaatan PCR di berbagai bidang ilmu.
