MAKASSAR – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar conducted a Workshop on the Development of an Interprofessional Education (IPE) Module on Saturday, 25 July 2026, at the FMHS Building, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Samata, Gowa Regency. The workshop marked a strategic initiative to develop an Interprofessional Education (IPE) learning module aimed at strengthening collaboration among the faculty’s academic programmes in the delivery of health professions education.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FMHS Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Dr. dr. Andi Weri Sompa, M.Kes., Sp.N(K). In his opening remarks, he emphasised that collaboration among academic programmes is a fundamental element in preparing future healthcare professionals who are capable of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

He noted that the increasingly complex challenges of modern healthcare can no longer be addressed by a single profession alone. Therefore, students should be exposed from an early stage to collaborative learning experiences involving multiple health disciplines, enabling them to understand the respective roles of different professions while developing effective communication, teamwork, and collaborative decision-making skills in delivering patient-centred healthcare.

“Interprofessional Education is not merely about bringing students from different academic programmes into the same classroom. Rather, it is about fostering a collaborative culture that will equip them for professional practice. For this reason, the development of the IPE module must involve all academic programmes within FMHS to ensure an integrated curriculum that is relevant to the evolving needs of healthcare services,” he stated.

Throughout the workshop, participants collaboratively developed, discussed, and aligned the content and intended learning outcomes of the IPE module to support its integrated implementation across all academic programmes within FMHS Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The module was designed to align with contemporary developments in health professions education, national higher education standards, and the growing demand for interprofessional collaboration in healthcare delivery.

The workshop is expected to produce a comprehensive and practical IPE module that will serve as a reference for implementing collaborative learning across the faculty. Beyond enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, the implementation of Interprofessional Education is also expected to strengthen students’ competencies in communication, teamwork, shared decision-making, and patient safety-oriented healthcare practice.

This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of FMHS Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar to advancing the quality of health professions education through innovative learning approaches that respond to contemporary developments in healthcare and the evolving demands of professional practice. It also reinforces the faculty’s commitment to fostering synergy among its academic programmes in preparing competent, collaborative, and globally competitive healthcare professionals.

FKIK Unismuh Makassar Kembangkan Modul Interprofessional Education untuk Tingkatkan Kolaborasi Lintas Profesi

MAKASSAR – Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar menggelar Workshop Penyusunan Modul Interprofessional Education (IPE) pada Sabtu, 25 Juli 2026, di Gedung FKIK Unismuh Makassar, Samata, Kabupaten Gowa. Kegiatan ini menjadi langkah strategis fakultas dalam menyusun modul pembelajaran Interprofessional Education (IPE) sebagai upaya memperkuat kolaborasi lintas program studi dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan tenaga kesehatan.

Workshop dibuka secara resmi oleh Wakil Dekan I FKIK Unismuh Makassar, Dr. dr. Andi Weri Sompa, M.Kes., Sp.N(K). Dalam sambutannya, ia menekankan bahwa kolaborasi antarpogram studi merupakan fondasi penting dalam membentuk lulusan tenaga kesehatan yang mampu bekerja secara efektif dalam tim multidisiplin.

Menurutnya, tantangan pelayanan kesehatan saat ini tidak dapat diselesaikan oleh satu profesi saja. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa sejak dini perlu dibekali pengalaman belajar bersama yang melibatkan berbagai disiplin ilmu kesehatan agar mampu memahami peran masing-masing profesi sekaligus membangun komunikasi dan kerja sama yang baik dalam memberikan pelayanan kepada masyarakat.

“Interprofessional Education bukan sekadar menyatukan mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi dalam satu kelas, tetapi membangun budaya kolaboratif yang akan menjadi bekal ketika mereka memasuki dunia kerja. Karena itu, penyusunan modul IPE harus melibatkan seluruh program studi di lingkungan FKIK agar menghasilkan pembelajaran yang terintegrasi dan relevan dengan kebutuhan layanan kesehatan,” ujarnya.

Melalui workshop ini, para peserta bersama-sama menyusun, mendiskusikan, dan menyelaraskan materi serta capaian pembelajaran modul IPE agar dapat diterapkan secara terpadu di seluruh program studi di lingkungan FKIK Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. Penyusunan modul juga diarahkan agar selaras dengan perkembangan pendidikan kesehatan, standar nasional pendidikan tinggi, serta kebutuhan pelayanan kesehatan yang semakin menuntut kolaborasi lintas profesi. Kegiatan tersebut diharapkan menghasilkan modul IPE yang komprehensif, aplikatif, dan mampu menjadi pedoman dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran kolaboratif di FKIK Unismuh Makassar. Selain meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran, implementasi IPE juga diharapkan dapat memperkuat kompetensi mahasiswa dalam komunikasi, koordinasi, pengambilan keputusan bersama, dan pelayanan yang berorientasi pada keselamatan pasien.
