FKIK Unismuh- The dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar for the 2017-2021 period, dr. Mahmud Ghaznawie, Sp.PA, was the chairman of the 2017-2019 Association of Indonesian Medical Education Institutions (AIPKI), the dean of FKIK Unismuh for the 2021-2025 period, Prof. DR. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc, Sp.GK (K) was elected chairman of the Association of Medical Education and Health Sciences (APKKM).

Prof. Suryani was elected by acclamation at the 10th APKKM annual meeting in 2022 in Malang. Acting as the host of the annual meeting, the Faculty of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Malang. The activity lasted for three days, Friday – Sunday, July 29-31, 2022. Present at the APKKM annual meeting were the leaders of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) throughout Indonesia. As of this writing, there are 12 FKs managed by PTMs throughout Indonesia.

The 10th APKKM annual meeting in 2022 raised the theme “Towards the Faculty of Medicine of Muhammadiyah Universities Accredited by 9 Criteria with the Competency Value of Muhammadiyah Doctors”. Scientific seminars related to the theme were presented by Dr. Eko Setijono, Marhaendra Putro, Sp.N (K) through the topic “Accreditation of 9 Standards”; and Dr. Agus Sukaca, M.Kes who delivered the topic “Character Standards and Competence of Muhammadiyah Doctors”. Dr. Eko Setijono himself is a senior auditor at the Institute for Self-Accreditation of Higher Education in Health (LAM PT-Kes), a lecturer in the Neurology doctor and specialist education program (PPDS) at the Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University Malang, and Chair of the Indonesian Neurology Collegium. Meanwhile, Dr. Agus Sukaca, in addition to acting as chairman of the Revision Team for the 2nd edition of the Muhammadiyah Doctors Character and Competency Standards (SKKDM) book in 2022, is also a former member of the East Kalimantan DPRD, founder and teacher of the Muhammadiyah Nursing Academy (Akper) Muhammadiyah East Kalimantan, which has now developed into Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan (UMKT).  Currently, he is also listed as a lecturer and acts as a delegate of FK Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta.

Prof. Dr. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc., Sp.GK completed her Medical Education at Hasanuddin University 1984, Master Program in Nutrition, University of Indonesia 1991, Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, Hasanuddin University (2001), The British Academy of Continuing Medical Education in Amsterdam Netherlands 2018, and Scope School Kuwait 2019.

He received awards as an Exemplary Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS, in 1997; Satya Lencana Karya Satya by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2001; 50 Years Outstanding Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, in 2006; Howarld Foundation Award Cambridge University, in 2011; Satya Lencana Karya Satya 20 Years by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2012; and Satya Lencana Karya Satya 30 Years by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2019.

Previously, Prof. Suryani As’ad was the Secretary of the University of Indonesia. Previously, Prof. Suryani As’ad was the Secretary of the Nutrition Science Section of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS (1992 – 1999); Head of the Hasanuddin University Polyclinic (1999 – 2006); Head of the Medical Education Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS (2004-2005); Head of Curriculum Innovation of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS (2002 – 2003); Head of SMF Nutrition of Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar (2002-2004); Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine UNHAS (2006-2010); Head of the Doctoral Study Program of Medical Sciences UNHAS (2007 – 2014); Secretary I of the Indonesian Clinical Nutrition Association (PDGKI 2007 – 2010); Secretary II of the Indonesian Medical Education Association (AIPKI 2008 – 2010); Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Collegium of Clinical Nutrition Specialists (2015-2018); Executive Board of the Indonesian Medical Ethics Council; Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Collegium of Clinical Nutrition Specialists (2018-Present); Chairman of the UNHAS Health Research Ethics Commission (2006 – Present); Advisor to Aisyiah South Sulawesi (2008 – Present); Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Scientific Publications, UNHAS Postgraduate School (2014 – 2018); and Member of the Indonesian Medical Association (2007 – Present).
