Reaching Communities: 111 FMHS Unismuh Students Undertake Community Service Program Across 10 Villages in Gowa Regency
MAKASSAR – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, held a formal send-off and welcoming ceremony for students participating in its Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), or Community Service Program, in Gowa Regency on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The ceremony took place at Baruga Karaeng Pattingalloang, Gowa Regent’s Office.
The event marked the commencement of the FMHS Unismuh students’ community service activities. A total of 111 students are participating in the program and have been assigned to 10 villages across Gowa Regency. Through the program, students are expected to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their academic studies while contributing to community-based initiatives, particularly those related to health and well-being.

The FMHS Unismuh KKN participants were officially received by the Gowa Regency Government, represented by Assistant III Muhammad Natsir, S.E., M.Adm., on behalf of the Regent of Gowa. Also in attendance were Head of the Gowa Regency Health Office drg. Abdul Haris Usman and Head of the Gowa Regency Social Affairs Office Drs. H. Firdaus, S.Ag., M.Si.
Representing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, were Vice Dean III dr. Asdar, Sp.B., Vice Dean VI dr. Ihsan Jaya R, MH., and Head of the FMHS KKN Team dr. Yasser A. Fananie, MHA., MMR. The presence of representatives from both FKIK Unismuh and the Gowa Regency Government reflected their shared commitment to supporting students as they engage directly with local communities and implement their community service programs.
The KKN program is expected to serve not only as an integral component of the students’ academic experience but also as an opportunity for experiential learning through direct engagement with communities. Through this process, students are encouraged to strengthen their communication, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving skills while developing programs that respond to the needs and challenges identified within their respective communities.
Given their academic backgrounds in medicine and health sciences, the participating students are also expected to contribute to improving public knowledge and awareness of healthy lifestyles and preventive health practices. Program activities will be tailored to local needs and implemented in coordination with local government authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
Through the KKN program, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, continues to promote student engagement in the implementation of the Catur Dharma of Muhammadiyah Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service. The collaboration with the Gowa Regency Government is expected to provide students with meaningful learning experiences while generating tangible and sustainable benefits for communities across the program locations.

Terjun ke Masyarakat, 111 Mahasiswa FKIK Unismuh Jalani KKN di 10 Desa Kabupaten Gowa
MAKASSAR – Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar melaksanakan Pelepasan dan Penerimaan Peserta Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Kabupaten Gowa, Kamis, 20 Agustus 2026. Kegiatan berlangsung di Baruga Karaeng Pattingalloang, Kantor Bupati Gowa, mulai pukul 09.00 WITA.
Kegiatan tersebut menandai dimulainya pelaksanaan KKN mahasiswa FKIK Unismuh sebagai bagian dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Sebanyak 111 mahasiswa mengikuti KKN dan ditempatkan di 10 desa di Kabupaten Gowa. Melalui program ini, mahasiswa diharapkan dapat mengimplementasikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperoleh selama perkuliahan sekaligus berkontribusi dalam mendukung berbagai program di tengah masyarakat, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan bidang kesehatan.
Peserta KKN FKIK Unismuh diterima oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Gowa yang diwakili Asisten III, Muhammad Natsir, S.E., M.Adm., mewakili Bupati Gowa. Turut hadir Kepala Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Gowa drg. Abdul Haris Usman serta Kepala Dinas Sosial Kabupaten Gowa Drs. H. Firdaus, S.Ag., M.Si.
Sementara itu, dari FKIK Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar turut hadir Wakil Dekan III FKIK Unismuh Makassar, dr. Asdar, Sp.B., Wakil Dekan VI FKIK Unismuh Makassar, dr. Ihsan Jaya R, MH., serta Ketua Tim KKN FKIK Unismuh, dr. Yasser A. Fananie, MHA., MMR. Kehadiran jajaran FKIK Unismuh dan Pemerintah Kabupaten Gowa menjadi bentuk dukungan terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan mahasiswa yang akan berinteraksi dan menjalankan program pengabdian bersama masyarakat.
Pelaksanaan KKN diharapkan tidak hanya menjadi bagian dari proses akademik mahasiswa, tetapi juga menjadi ruang pembelajaran langsung untuk memahami kondisi dan kebutuhan masyarakat. Mahasiswa dapat mengasah kemampuan berkomunikasi, bekerja dalam tim, beradaptasi, serta merancang program yang sesuai dengan persoalan yang ditemukan di lokasi pengabdian.
Sebagai mahasiswa yang memiliki latar belakang pendidikan di bidang kedokteran dan kesehatan, peserta KKN juga diharapkan dapat mengambil peran dalam mendorong peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai pentingnya pola hidup sehat dan upaya pencegahan masalah kesehatan. Pelaksanaan program tetap disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat serta berkoordinasi dengan pemerintah dan pihak terkait di lokasi KKN. Melalui KKN ini, FKIK Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar terus mendorong keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam pelaksanaan Catur Dharma Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah, khususnya pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Kolaborasi dengan Pemerintah Kabupaten Gowa diharapkan dapat memberikan pengalaman pembelajaran yang bermakna bagi mahasiswa sekaligus menghadirkan manfaat nyata bagi masyarakat di lokasi pelaksanaan KKN.
