On October 28th-29th, 2023, a group of students from the Medical Doctor Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a silver medal in the ‘Futuristics and Prestige Research, Technology, and Art’ (FAPERTA FAIR 4) Scientific Paper Competition.

This competition was held at Dhyana Pura University, Bali, and was organized by the Sentosa Foundation, with the aim of inspiring students to cultivate innovation and creativity through scientific paper submissions.

Prof. Suryani As’ad, the Dean of FMHS Unismuh, expressed her enthusiasm for this achievement. She remarked, “This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students in producing innovative scientific papers. It underscores the significant potential our students possess in addressing contemporary challenges with creative and scientific solutions.” Her comments were made on the Unismuh campus on Friday, November 2, 2023.

Prof. Suryani further emphasized that this achievement isn’t solely about winning a medal but also about the learning process, fostering creativity, and the tangible contribution of students towards advancing knowledge in society. “This marks a promising beginning for even more accomplishments in the future,” she added.

The scientific paper team from FMHS Unismuh, led by Miftahulfahra Maulani Indri, successfully advanced to the final round with their paper titled “Go Less Waste Application as a Creative Economic Platform for Homeless Communities Based on Digital Economy to Face Global Competition, A Pathway Towards Indonesia’s Golden 2045.”

This paper shed light on the importance of utilizing digital technology to support economic creativity within disadvantaged communities.

Miftahulfahra Maulani Indri, as the team leader, shared her thoughts, saying, “We are delighted to contribute innovative ideas that can benefit society, especially in the face of increasingly complex global challenges. We are grateful for this achievement and hope that it serves as an inspiration for other students to continue their scholarly work and innovation.”

With over 250 submissions from various universities across Indonesia, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar’s participation in the competition underscores their commitment to advancing student knowledge and creativity within the realm of science.
