Unismuh FKIK Medical Education Study Program – Universitas Sulawesi Barat (Unsulbar) is pioneering the opening of a medical education study program. Currently, Unsulbar already has a health science faculty that manages the S1 Nursing study program and the Ners Professional study program. Unsulbar is prioritized by the government in opening a medical education study program, based on the ratio of the need and distribution of doctors in the region.

One of the stages in the process of opening a medical education study program is the existence of benchmark partners. For this need, Unsulbar made the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar as a benchmark partner. FKIK Unismuh is considered appropriate as a benchmark partner because of the series of processes and achievements that have been passed. It is a medical education institution that was only established in 2008, by a private university – with all its limitations – and has achieved A accreditation in 2022. Various limitations of facilities and infrastructure at the beginning of the establishment, along with its development during the continuity of FKIK Unismuh until its latest achievements, are valuable learning resources for Unsulbar in the process of opening a medical education study program.

The Faculty of Health Sciences of Unsulbar held a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The agenda of the activity was in the form of discussion and general presentation regarding the condition and development of FKIK Unismuh, followed by a direct review of various academic facilities and infrastructure at FKIK Unismuh Makassar. The benchmarking activity was attended by Faculty Leaders from both parties, Faculty of Health Sciences Unsulbar and FKIK Unismuh Makassar.
