Unismuh FKIK Professional Study Program – Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar and Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) are two leading universities in South Sulawesi. Unismuh and Unhas have long collaborated in the fields of education, research, and community service (Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi), both formally and informally, individually and institutionally. As is known, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Unismuh Makassar in its pioneering and development, is under the partnership and guidance of the Faculty of Medicine Unhas.
Located at Unhas Tamalanrea Main Teaching Hospital, on 9/01/2023, the leadership of FKIK Unismuh Makassar, namely: Dean, Vice Deans, Leaders of Medical Education and Professional Doctor Study Programs, FKIK Quality Control Group, FKIK Unismuh Medical Education Unit, and PKU Muhammadiyah Unismuh Hospital; received and met with the Director of Medical Services and Medical Support DR. dr. Abdul Azis, Sp.U., and Manager of Education and Research at Hasanuddin University Teaching Hospital dr. Aslim Taslim, S.Ked., Sp.Onk.Rad., and his staff.
The meeting took place informally, because it was a follow-up meeting aimed at exploring more technically regarding the readiness and policies of the Unhas Main Teaching Hospital regarding the implementation of the Cooperation between FKIK Unismuh and Unhas Hospital. The meeting began with remarks from both parties, regarding the readiness and joint spirit to build synergies in developing medical and health education, especially in both institutions; continued with a presentation of the profile and facilities at Unhas Hospital, the flow of admission processes related to education and research, discussions and questions and answers, and ended with a direct visit to the medical and health education simulation unit of Unhas Main Teaching Hospital.
Unhas Hospital is a teaching hospital owned by Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Makassar, South Sulawesi. The groundbreaking of Unhas Hospital was done on September 15, 2008 by the Rector of Unhas during that period, Prof. Dr. dr. Idrus A. Paturusi, Sp.B, Sp.OT(K). Unhas Hospital was established to fulfill Law No. 20 of 2013 concerning Medical Education which requires the Faculty of Medicine to have a Teaching Hospital in order to produce quality health workers.
Unhas Hospital was built side by side with Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital to build collaboration and efficiency in the use of facilities, utilization of human resources and support the development of the Academic Health Center (AHC). The superior services developed by Unhas Hospital are Cancer Center, Trauma Center, Eye Center, Diagnostic Center, Cerebral and Vascular Intervention Center, Fertility Endocrine Reproductive Center, Reaserch Center, Assessment Alternative Medicine Center, Telemedicine and Education Center, Physiotherpy and Rehabilitation Center.
Unhas Hospital is currently supported by 548 medical personnel, and 249 non-medical personnel; with 180 beds for inpatient care, and serves specialist and subspecialist polyclinics. Specialist services include: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Child Health, Eye, Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Genital Skin, Heart, Urology, Neurology, Oral Dentistry, Pulmonary, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Forensics, Microbiology and Medical Rehabilitation. While subspecialty services consist of: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Eye, Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Neurology, Heart and Vascular, Skin and Gynecology, Mental, Pulmonary, Orthopedics and Oral Dentistry.
