Holds Focus Group Discussion on Stunting Reduction, Sinjai Regency Government Collaborates with FKIK Unismuh Makassar
FKIK Unismuh- The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Sinjai held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (Unismuh).
The FGD on accelerating stunting reduction was officially opened by the Deputy Regent of Sinjai, Hj. Andi Kartini Ottong in the Bappeda meeting room, Wednesday (1/2/2023).
The Head of Sospem of Bappeda Sinjai, Dian Purnamasari said that this initial meeting was a follow-up to the cooperation agreement between the Dean of FKIK Unismuh Makassar and the Chairperson of TPPS Sinjai which was held on September 26, 2022 regarding research and community service.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regent, Hj. Andi Kartini Ottong said, stunting is still a priority problem in Indonesia to immediately accelerate its reduction. Some time ago the Ministry of Health announced that the results of the nutritional status survey in Indonesia for 2022 had dropped to 21.6 percent from the previous year of 24.4 percent.
“Likewise, the stunting prevalence rate in Sinjai Regency in 2022 of 29.4 percent only decreased by 0.7 percent from the previous year of 30.1 percent.
Of course, this must be a concern for all of us because this figure is still high from the target set by BKKBN in 2024 of 17.52 percent,” he said.
She added, after Sinjai Regency was designated as the locus for handling stunting in 2020, many efforts have been made by the local government, together with the village / kelurahan government.
One of them is providing additional food to target stunting toddlers and pregnant women with kek (chronic energy deficiency) for 90 consecutive days in collaboration with nutrition officers, PKK cadres, and human development cadres through budgeting village / kelurahan funds.
“This is still being implemented until 2023. The activity is packaged in the form of madeceng innovation, village / kelurahan communities prevent stunting. In addition to the innovations made, efforts to reduce stunting also gave birth to several innovations including the island nine health center innovation “Parenting” (Posyandu Remaja Cegah Stunting),” he explained.
Then, the innovation of the island of hope village, island nine sub-district “Gunting Rumput” (Tackling Stunting with Seaweed), innovation of posyandu cadres and nutrition officers of the Panaikang Health Center, Panaikang Village, East Sinjai District “Sibantu lo” (Stunting-Free Sinjai with Moringa Leaves).
As well as innovations that are included in the top 30 public service innovations at the South Sulawesi Province level in 2020, namely Cake Kebun Menghadang Stunting dengan Nikmat, which was initiated by the Lappae Health Center, Tellulimpoe District.
“We must be grateful, because FKIK Unismuh Makassar has been present to provide assistance to the Sinjai Regency government in the form of research and community service in the health sector, one of which is assistance in accelerating stunting reduction,” he concluded.
