BEM FK Unismuh and FKIK Unismuh Leaders Hold Health Checkup in Mangeloreng Village
Maros, May 26, 2024 – The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Medicine (BEM FK) of Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar together with the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Unismuh carried out health examination activities in Mangeloreng Village, Bantimurung District, Maros Regency on Sunday, May 26, 2024. This activity aims to improve the quality of health of the village community while providing health education.
In his speech, the Chairman of BEM FK Unismuh, Muhammad Faisal, emphasized the importance of the role of students in community service. “InsyaAllah, this activity can be a support in improving the transformation of primary services for the Mangeloreng community, and also become a learning field for students who only get theory on campus, so that it can be an experience and provision to become doctors in the future,” said Muhammad Faisal.
This health examination activity was attended by 63 health workers, consisting of 25 lecturers and 38 volunteer FK Unismuh students. The Dean of FKIK Unismuh, Mrs. Prof. DR. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc, Sp.GK (K), was also present and gave full support. “A program that is very useful and needs to be sustained in its implementation so that the development from before being designated as a fostered village until the end of cooperation can be seen and used as assessment material for further actions or activities,” said Mother Prof. DR. dr. Suryani As’ad, M.Sc, Sp.GK (K).
Health checks carried out include checking blood sugar, general examination, and health consultation. A total of 70 residents of Mangeloreng Village utilized this health check-up service. In addition, free medicines were also provided for common diseases that were found during the examination.
In addition to health checks, the team from FKIK Unismuh also provided health counseling to the local community. This counseling included information on the Dangers of Hypertension in Pregnancy, and healthy eating patterns. The counseling was enthusiastically attended by more than 80 villagers, who hoped to gain knowledge and practical tips to maintain their health and that of their families.
Mangeloreng Village Head, who in this case was represented by the Head of Government Section, Mr. Sirajuddin, “We are very grateful to BEM FK and FKIK Unismuh for their concern and assistance. We hope that activities like this can be carried out regularly to improve the health of our village community and with this program it can be something that has a broad impact and be a blessing together,” said Mr. Sirajuddin.
This health examination activity is part of the community service program that continues to be carried out by FKIK Unismuh. Through this activity, FKIK Unismuh hopes to continue to contribute in improving public health and providing useful education for villagers.
