The Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh) declares its determination not only to maintain excellent accreditation but also to enhance what has been achieved in all assessment standards.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the Daily Supervisory Board (BPH), Prof. Gagaring Pagalung, during a press conference on Unismuh’s Excellent accreditation achievements. The press conference was held in the Senate Room on the 17th floor of the Iqra Building, Unismuh Makassar Campus, on Monday, January 23, 2024.

Present at the meeting were Unismuh Rector Prof. Ambo Asse, Vice Rector I Dr. Abd Rakhim Nanda, Vice Rector II Prof. Andi Sukri Syamsuri, Vice Rector IV Dr. Mawardi Pewangi, and Chairman of the Quality Assurance Board Dr. Burhanuddin.

Gagaring revealed that Unismuh scored 368 out of a maximum of 400. “This means that Unismuh still has a deficiency of 8 percent. This is an aspect that needs improvement,” he said, adding that Unismuh is always striving for improvement, for example, since achieving ISO 21001:2018 accreditation.

Prof. Gagaring emphasized the importance of maintaining the stability of the system for the next four years of evaluation. “We are determined that the next assessment not only maintains but also improves the existing standards,” he said.

He also highlighted Unismuh’s achievements on an international scale, such as the ASIIN international certification from Germany, which has been obtained by two study programs from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, namely, Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Doctor.

“We will continue our efforts for the internationalization of other study programs,” he continued. Regarding infrastructure development, Prof. Gagaring mentioned that Unismuh manages an area of 334 hectares.

“The main campus here will continue to be developed, including the Ranggong campus and the development of the Muhammadiyah PKU Hospital in Hertasning. We are also completing the construction of an eleven-story building for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences,” he explained.

Gagaring added that this year Unismuh is preparing a specialist Emergency study program. “This is part of the development of the medical education pattern, including specialization, master’s, and doctoral programs,” he clarified.
